On Tuesday afternoon, April 22, 2014,
the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge traveled from Canberra to Uluru, the
Aboriginal name for Ayer’s Rock, a huge sandstone rock formation and
sacred site located inside Kata Tjuta National Park.
Upon
their arrival at Yulara, a town located near the Uluru, William and Kate
visited the National Indigenous Training Academy and the Uluru Cultural
Centre. Members of local indigenous communities held A “Welcome to
Country” ceremony and showed William and Kate some of their artwork. The
Duke and Duchess then headed to Uluru, the world’s largest monolith.
