Kate and Prince George's Plunket Play Date

On Wednesday afternoon, Prince George attended his first official engagement, a play date with 10 other babies his age. The event, held at Government House in Wellington, was organized by Plunket New Zealand.

Plunket is New Zealand's largest provider of support services for the development, health and wellbeing of children under the age of 5. Plunket works together with families and communities to ensure the best start for every child.

The Duchess of Cambridge was greeted by traditional Maori warriors and local dignitaries, who exchanged Hongis, the traditional Māori greeting, by pressing their noses and foreheads together.

On Monday, April 7, 2014, after arriving at the Wellington airport, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George were driven to Government House, the New Zealand Governor-General's residence where they will stay during their 10-day visit to the country.

William and Kate were welcomed by Governor General Sir Jerry Mateparae and his wife, Lady Janine. Prince William led an inspection of a guard of military officials. William and Kate were then greeted by traditional Maori warriors and local dignitaries, who exchanged Hongis, the traditional Māori greeting, by pressing their noses and foreheads together. As the rain subsided, Kate and William were then treated to a Haka, a traditional ancestral war cry dance.

Prince George and his nanny stayed dry by watching all of the action from a second floor window of Government House.

A new picture of the Cambridge family was taken with their dog Lupo inside Apartment 1A, their home at Kensington Palace. Prince George is wearing a sweater with his name one it. The picture was taken by the same photographer who took his christening photos.
