10 times Duchess Kate has worn a tiara and looked like a Queen

If there's one thing most royal fans look forward to, it's seeing their favourite Duchess in a sparkling tiara! And while such moments are fairly rare for British royals, there have been a number of formal occasions when the Duchess of Cambridge has popped on her very own piece of diamond headwear – most recently at a state banquet held in honour of Donald Trump's visit to the UK. Didn't she look stunning?

We don't often see Kate wear a tiara – the exclusive accessories are saved only for state dinners and receptions at Buckingham Palace, and of course she wore a tiara at her royal wedding to William back in 2011. In fact, the mum-of-three has only worn a tiara a handful of times since joining the royal family, which includes just three different pieces in total.

The Duchess has a particular favourite when it comes to head candy – and that's the famous Lover's Knot tiara. Kate wore the piece at her most recent outing at Buckingham Palace, with her gorgeous Alexander McQueen gown. The tiara, which was originally made for the Queen Mother and later worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, features a beautiful pearl and diamond design.

In December 2018, Kate wore the Lover's Knot tiara to the Queen's annual Diplomatic Corps reception, teamed with a custom-made baby Jenny Packham gown with jewelled embellishments. The perfect winter look, we reckon!

Duchess Kate also wore the Lover's Knot tiara in October 2018, when she attended a lavish state banquet at Buckingham Palace to honour King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima during their visit to the UK. Kate wore a beautiful blue Alexander McQueen gown along with the stunning headpiece.

It was jewels, jewels, jewels for Kate in December 2017! The royal was photographed arriving at Buckingham Palace for a diplomatic dinner with her husband Prince William, and she looked elegant in a white gown with diamond necklace and her favourite Lover's Knot tiara again. This time, Kate teamed it with some matching pearl drop earrings.

A similar look to her previous tiara outing, here we see Kate in the exquisite Lover's Knot tiara again (she clearly loves it!) as she arrives at another state banquet at Buckingham Palace back in July 2017 to welcome King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain. We love her ruby and diamond necklace too.

Surprise, surprise, the Lover's Knot tiara again, but this time Kate wears the headpiece with an eye-catching red dress. The royal wore the jewelled heirloom for the Diplomatic Corps reception back in December 2016.

You've guessed it, it's the Lover's Knot! Yes, this is the very first time that Kate donned her now-trusty tiara, which she wore with a pretty lace gown and drop earrings to a diplomatic reception at Buckingham Palace in December 2015.

In October 2015, however, Kate stunned in a different piece - the Lotus Flower tiara - at a state banquet for the visit of the Chinese President. It originally belonged to the Queen Mother and was loaned to Kate for this occasion. She also wore it in 2013 for the Annual Diplomatic Reception.

We can't forget Kate's wedding tiara! The Duchess wore the exquisite Cartier Halo Tiara on her special day, which features over 800 diamonds. King George VI first commissioned Cartier to design the tiara for his wife, the Queen Mother in 1936, and it was then passed on to Queen Elizabeth on her 18th birthday.

Thousands of flag-bearing spectators lined the Mall as members of the Horse Guards Parade performed an impressive display of pomp and pageantry in Whitehall. The procession involved more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians who moved from Buckingham Palace down the Mall. A 41-gun salute in honour of the Queen followed the parade in nearby Green Park performed by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery. The event finished with a Royal Air Force (RAF) flyover watched by the Royal Family on Buckingham Palace balcony.

Several members of the extended royal family gathered on the Buckingham Palace balcony for Royal Air Force flypast during this year's Trooping the Colour, the annual celebration honoring the queen's birthday.

Prince George returned to his cheeky antics when he joined the Queen and members of the royal family on Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping the Colour. Standing in front of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and William, the Duke of Cambridge, George and Princess Charlotte, four, entertained themselves as they awaited the spectacular air display.

The five-year-old playfully squinted in the afternoon sun as he tried to catch a glimpse of the military flypast, which celebrates the Queen’s birthday.

George joined Charlotte and Louis in waving to the crowd of well-wishers gathered outside the palace. Little Louis, who turned one in April, made his palace balcony debut. The royal tot warmed hearts as he waved to fans.

Prince Louis, the youngest of the three Cambridge children, won legions of fans as he pointed and looked up in awe at the impressive fleet of aircraft passing over his head. Trooping the Colour has taken place on the second Saturday of June in a tradition dating back more than 260 years - but the Queen’s real birthday was on April 21 when she turned 93.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, 37, exuded elegance in a pale yellow ensemble for this year’s event. Trooping the Colour is an annual ceremony performed by regiments of the British and Commonwealth armies, which coincides with the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince William and Kate were spotted arriving at Buckingham Palace just after ten o'clock in the morning, ahead of the start of Trooping. The future King, who was preparing to take part in the procession on horseback, looked smart in his red uniform while mum-of-three Kate was her typically elegant self in a yellow coatdress and matching hat by Philip Treacy hat. The Duchess borrowed a pair of pearl drop earrings from the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth lays out state banquet welcome for Trump state visit

At a formal state banquet at Buckingham Palace, US President Donald Trump and Queen Elizabeth II emphasize the close relationship between their two nations since the Second World War. The formal dinner in the palace's ballroom was attended by Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, as well as Prince William and Duchess Kate and Prime Minister Theresa May.

When America's first couple sit down to the lavish state banquet in Buckingham Palace on Monday evening, they will be treated to an exquisite menu that was six months in the planning, and a table that took royal staff three days to set.

Around 170 guests are expected at the dinner personally overseen by Queen Elizabeth II, in what will be a highlight of US President Donald Trump's first state visit to Great Britain.

The dinner will take place on a horseshoe-shaped table in the palace's ballroom, with the Queen and Trump seated at its head, flanked by First Lady Melania, heir to the throne Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The Duchess of Cambridge donned a white, bridal-inspired dress by Alexander McQueen, according to Harper's Bazaar UK, the same British fashion house behind her 2011 wedding gown, designed by Sarah Burton, and one of her go-to brands. The all-white frock featured ruffles throughout, a sweetheart neckline, and cap sleeves, with a full skirt.
