The Duchess Of Cambridge Gives Evening Dressing A Modern Twist

IF this week has taught us anything, it is this: The Duchess of Cambridge can meet – and rise above - any sartorial challenge with style and grace. Her final lesson being the mastering of the cool cocktail look.

Last night she stepped out in Berlin wearing a teal, navy, grey and black dress by German-born, London-based designer Markus Lupfer whilst visiting the Clärchens Ballhaus in the Mitte district. She teamed her bird-printed dress with her new favourite Prada wave strap sandals; a chainmail belt which elegantly cinched in the neat shift dress at the waist, and a diamond-patterned silver clutch bag.

Her dress selection proves her style credentials too, for Lupfer's pre-autumn/winter 2017 collection is yet to go on sale. Similar styles are on his website, and a blouse and skirt in a brighter version of this print are available at Farfetch.com, but otherwise this is a first.

The elegant look also mirrors the way she started her diplomatic tour: paying tribute with her ensemble to the nation she is a guest of. On her first night in Poland, she wore a bespoke dress by Polish designer Gosia Baczynska, which proved to be a modern marvel. Choosing Lupfer’s design for the Berlin leg of her journey speaks volumes as to the ultimate aim of the trip: that of promoting a good relationship between Britain and Germany; Lupfer being born and raised in Germany, but trained and based in London.
