Commonwealth Games - July 29, 2014

Today (July 29, 2014), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, along with Prince Harry, are attended a second day of events at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. They also paid visits to charities they patron and played games with children in the athlete's village.

On a second day of events at the Commonwealth Games, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry visited charities they patron. Kate met with SportsAid athletes while William and Harry played football and boxed in an event organized by Coach Core. To view photos of the trio watching track and field events.

On a third day of events at the Commonwealth Games, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry visited the athlete's village where they played games with children representing UNICEF UK. They also caught up with Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, who is competing in the 4x100m relay.

 Oh Lord, I burst out laughing and am still chuckling away, what a woman.

She's not afraid to try anything.... gotta love her! just so spontaneous. it's awsome.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Sporty Weekend

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had quite a sporty weekend. Prince William and Kate Middleton graced Centre Court at Wimbledon today to Novak Djokovic defeat Roger Federer in the men's final. After the match, Djokovic thanked the couple for staying till the end and asked Kate about her tennis game. 

Kate and William were cheering excitedly at yet another Wimbledon match as they attended the men’s final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, yesterday. The royal couple watched Djokovic beat Federer while they displayed emotions ranging from torment to pure joy and could hardly sit still on their seats in the Royal Box.

For the day, Kate had recycled a blue and green patterned Jonathan Saunders Evelyn Dress, that she last wore on the Diamond Jubilee tour to the Far East in 2012. She matched the dress with her beautiful Kiki McDonough Green Amethyst and Diamond Drop Earrings and her nude Jimmy Choo Gilbert pumps along with her Cartier Ballon Bleu wrist watch.

For a few minutes, Tour de France riders’ thoughts on the harsh competition ahead were distracted by the beautiful Duchess Kate as she arrived by helicopter on Saturday at the 18th century stately home Harewood House near Leeds with Prince William and Prince Harry.

The ravishing Duchess had the distinguished job of cutting the white ribbon marking the start of the biggest bike race in the world, the 101st Tour de France.

Thousands of people had gathered on the streets to get a glimpse of the cyclists and the royals as they got ready for the “Grand Depart” and before cutting the ribbon, Prince William and his brother Harry had a nice chat with British reigning Tour de France champion, Chris Froome.

Duchess Kate reused her green wool-crepe Erdem coat which we also saw in Australia in April. She matched the coat with her L.K. Bennett Avona Patent Leather Roll Clutch in light taupe patent leather, her favourite L.K. Bennett Sledge Pumps and her green silk tea dress from Suzannah which she wore earlier this week at her visit to The Butterfly Exhibit at the Natural History Museum.

This morning (July 1, 2014) the Duchess of Cambridge visited Blessed Sacrament Primary School in Islington, North London to check on the progress of the M-PACT Plus project.

The program supports children and families affected by parental drug and alcohol abuse. The initiative is funded by Comic Relief and The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. It includes training school staff to identify children affected by addiction and bringing families together for an eight week intervention. The program is delivered in schools by two charities Kate patrons, Place2Be and Action on Addiction.

While she was at the school, the Duchess of Cambridge met project coordinators and teachers to gain insight into the progress made since the launch last year. She also joined a private counselling session and listened to some speeches.

As the Duchess of Cambridge was leaving the Blessed Sacrament Primary School, a pupil presented her with a Picasso-like portrait of her and Prince George that she painted for them.

The Duchess of Cambridge at Garter Day 2014

More than 7,000 people had gathered inside Windsor castle to watch Queen Elizabeth and her family arrive for the annual Order of the Garter service at St. George’s chapel yesterday.

The ceremony takes place every year in June and celebrates Britain’s oldest and highest level of chivalry founded in 1348 by King Edward III and dedicated to the image and arms of St. George as England’s patron saint. The order is awarded by Her Majesty to members of the commonwealth who have served the Queen personally or contributed in a particular way to Britain’s national life.

At the ceremony yesterday, the Order — which  is limited to 26 members consisting of the Sovereign, a Royal knight and twenty four Knights of the Garter — welcomed two new members, Mervyn King, former governor of the Bank of England, and Eliza Manningham-Buller, former head of MI5. New members of the Order are announced on St. George’s Day in April but the installment itself always takes place at Garter Day on the Monday of Royal Ascot week.

Joining Queen Elizabeth at Monday’s ceremony were Prince Charles, Prince William, The Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Anne, the Duke of York, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Duke of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra and Prince Philip. The Duchess of Cornwall unfortunately had to stay at home due to sinusitis. 

 

Like Her Majesty and Prince Philip, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge arrived by carriage dressed in the Order’s traditional blue velvet robes and black velvet hats with white plumes.

Following the ceremony Queen Elizabeth hosted a luncheon for the members and officers of the Order in the Waterloo Chamber.

The Duchess was often seen beside Sophie, Countess of Wessex and the two seemed to have plenty to talk about as they waited and they performed perfectly executed curtseys when the Queen passed by.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge attended the traditional Royal Order of the Garter procession and service today and chose Scottish designer, Christopher Kane for the occasion. The ice blue silk satin coat dress, which is not new in the Duchess’s wardrobe, was worn for the first time in 2012 at a reception before the opening ceremony of the Olympics. 

To top off the elegant outfit, the Duchess had chosen a matching blue hat from London hatter, Lock & Co. The hat is called Sweet Delight and is part of Lock & Co’s couture millinery collection. This very special and very old hatter was founded in 1676 and has a royal warrant for the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh. The clutch and shoes complimented each other perfectly. The Duchess teamed her L.K. Bennett Natalie clutch with a new pair of nude Jimmy Choo heels called Gilbert.
