The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of SportsAid, arriving for the 2013 SportsBall, the charity's annual gala dinner. |
The Duchess of Cambridge joined Olympic athletes at a ball held to help the next generation of British sports stars. The Duchess was greeted by Olympic stars including Amy Williams and Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson at the Sports Aid event, for which she is a patron. She was also greeted by Anna Watkins, an Olympic gold medallist rower.
The Sportsball gala dinner is Sportsaid's major annual fundraiser. It
also celebrates the achievements of the athletes the charity has
supported over the years and looks to the future by shining a light on
talent in the next generation. With this in mind, the Duchess will
present the One-to-Watch Award, which honours a young British sportsman
or woman who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to their sport
and career and previous recipients include diver Tom Daley.
The Duchess wore a black dress designed by Alice Temperley to the SportsAid
event, held in central London. She teamed the dress with Jimmy Choo shoes
and a red Alexander McQueen handbag. The London Templeton dress, described as having an ‘Audrey Hepburn feel’, had
been on sale for £398 but had sold out online on Thursday night, minutes
after the Duchess appeared wearing it. The knee length dress had a crocheted skirt and three quarter length sleeves.
with an elegant off-the-peg Temperley dress accompanied by a pair of glamorous Jimmy Choos, she did just that.
