William & Kate Honor Members of the Irish Guard

Kate spent her Saturday morning performing her first military role, assisting William in presenting medals to members of the Irish Guard who recently returned from Afghanistan.

Looking stunning, the Duchess shined in a navy military-inspired dress with gold-button detailing. The dress/coat is thought to be from Alexander McQueen’s Pre Fall 2011 Collection (thanks readers, Kimberly and Angie)! Kate paired the outfit with matching navy heels, a perfect fascinator and navy and gold clutch.

Topping off her look, she wore a gold shamrock brooch that was on-loan from the regiment as well as a gold linked bracelet with a circular tag engraved with the letter “C” for Catherine (obviously). Perhaps a gift from William?

The Duchess did an amazing job of engaging with the honorees and kept a wide-smile throughout most of the ceremony. A royal aide confided to The Mail that she was very pleased to be undertaking the role for a regiment “so close to her husband’s heart”. And it showed…Kate was a hit!
