2014 Valero Pembroke Refinery Visit

Today (November 8, 2014), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge traveled to Wales where they visited the Valero Pembroke Refinery, a significant employer and part of the local economy for 50 years. The refinery was officially opened in 1964 by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.

While William and Kate were there, they viewed a display that chronicles the 50-year history of the refinery. They also met employees, saw the control room and visited with representatives from various community organizations that are supported by the refinery.

The visit concluded with a performance by the Young Actors Studio that works in partnership with the refinery through the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Upon their departure, William and Kate unveiled a plaque and a painting by a local artist.

For today's visit to Wales, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a £1,195 "Wool Double Breasted Coat" in Pacific opal blue by Matthew Williamson. At the time of this posting, a few sizes were still available on the designer's website.
