In honor of the first wedding anniversary for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge ( Prince William and Kate Middleton),
a waxy version of the pair will be unveiled in New York City on
Wednesday (April 4) - adding to all the other rich and famous
celebrities packed into Madame Tussauds. The wax replica of the royal couple will be surrounded by
gold-trimmed thrones and red drapes and, although the widely celebrated
duo won't be at the unveiling in person, a spokesperson at Tussauds has
revealed that Will and Kate worked closely with those behind the design.
As for the design, Catherine will be wearing an officially authorized
copy of the Alexander McQueen frock she wore during a Los Angeles trip
last summer for the BAFTA Brits to Watch event topped off with Jimmy
Choo platform sandals, a clutch and a sparkling recreation of her
sapphire and diamond engagement ring.
Meanwhile, Prince William will be donning a double-breasted, six button two-piece tuxedo created by Gieves & Hawkes.
"Madame Tussauds shares a close relationship with the British Royal
Family dating back to William IV, who was King when the first attraction
opened in London in 1835," waxworks confirmed in a release regarding
to display. "The current Queen has been modeled by the attraction over
20 times and has given the studio team six personal sittings over the
years."
The replicas don't stop at NYC, as waxy versions of the royals will
soon be unveiled in London, Amsterdam and Blackpool with different
outfits for each location.
